Summary

An interesting book that kept me on my toes。 It was not at all what I expected from the little bit I read of the blurb and reviews。 I thought it was going to be about some feral boy found in the woods, but that wasn't it at all。 While the boy from the woods played a big part in the story, it wasn't really about that at all, except in how he turned out after growing up, and going through a lot of life in between。 But he did turn out to be an interesting guy, and I'm looking forward to reading mor An interesting book that kept me on my toes。 It was not at all what I expected from the little bit I read of the blurb and reviews。 I thought it was going to be about some feral boy found in the woods, but that wasn't it at all。 While the boy from the woods played a big part in the story, it wasn't really about that at all, except in how he turned out after growing up, and going through a lot of life in between。 But he did turn out to be an interesting guy, and I'm looking forward to reading more books with him in it。I was also happy to see a favorite from the Myron Bolitar series, Hester Crimstein。 She's always fun to have around, at least in a book。 And to have her involved in a romance is especially interesting, and a little hard to imagine。 But we learn a lot about her in this story, and she actually turns out to be a fairly normal human in many ways。The story itself was pretty twisted, with threads going all over the place, and plenty of misdirection。 There were many issues that came up, and some interesting characters。 In the end, I'm not totally sure who the good guys and bad guys were。 Maybe I'll find out more in the second book, I hope。 。。。more

The plot was ok, but the characters and writing were on a 12 year old boy level。 Ridiculously rich people with annoying names, fancy cars and predictable problems。 This was my second and last book by Harlan Coben, if that’s really his name!

I have not read Harlan Coban in years, but this one came up in my book club。 I'm so glad it did。 I had so much fun reading this that I ate it up in two days。 Wilde is a very unique and cool character, and I hope this series continues。 Hester is my idol。 The plot spun and dipped and dove sufficiently to make me want to read just one more chapter, which is not often these days。 The writing style suits me, and I'll be reading more of Coban's books。 Not sure why I haven't been, because they make me I have not read Harlan Coban in years, but this one came up in my book club。 I'm so glad it did。 I had so much fun reading this that I ate it up in two days。 Wilde is a very unique and cool character, and I hope this series continues。 Hester is my idol。 The plot spun and dipped and dove sufficiently to make me want to read just one more chapter, which is not often these days。 The writing style suits me, and I'll be reading more of Coban's books。 Not sure why I haven't been, because they make me want to read。 。。。more

Very fun read。 Harlan Coben at his best!

Another good Harlan Coben。 Bit of a political story that rings true with the modern day chaos。 This has been on my list for awhile and finally read it as it’s a prequel to GIS new one that I want to read。

Hard to get into and lots of long named characters but well worth the perseverance。 Lots of twists and turns right up until the last page。The author introduced a non-binary character which I was very excited about but then made 2 mistakes about this character later on in the book。Didn't change the story but I possibly wouldn't read anything else from this author again due to bad editing choices。 Hard to get into and lots of long named characters but well worth the perseverance。 Lots of twists and turns right up until the last page。The author introduced a non-binary character which I was very excited about but then made 2 mistakes about this character later on in the book。Didn't change the story but I possibly wouldn't read anything else from this author again due to bad editing choices。 。。。more

I enjoyed the book, but it had just a few too many plot twists。 I liked the main character, Wild, but he too is pretty improbable。。。

Harlan Coben is my favorite mystery writer, and this book did not let me know。 As with all of his books, I have a hard time putting them down。 The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars as I usually do, is because he wove a political figure in his story which included all of the trappings。 Although I like to read a variety of books, when I go to Coben's work I want to escape and not be dragged back into what's going on now。 But putting that aside, this book is a great read。 Harlan Coben is my favorite mystery writer, and this book did not let me know。 As with all of his books, I have a hard time putting them down。 The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars as I usually do, is because he wove a political figure in his story which included all of the trappings。 Although I like to read a variety of books, when I go to Coben's work I want to escape and not be dragged back into what's going on now。 But putting that aside, this book is a great read。 。。。more

I have loved the character Hester Crimstein in previous Coben books, and it was a thrill to find her as a main character in this book。 When her son was young he had a friend who turned out to be The Boy from the woods, now named Wilde, who has no memory of his past except he was living alone in the woods。 It is now 30 years later and Hester's grandson Matthew calls on Wilde for help。 This sets up a convoluted plot that plays out to the very end。 I thoroughly enjoyed this book and now am waiting I have loved the character Hester Crimstein in previous Coben books, and it was a thrill to find her as a main character in this book。 When her son was young he had a friend who turned out to be The Boy from the woods, now named Wilde, who has no memory of his past except he was living alone in the woods。 It is now 30 years later and Hester's grandson Matthew calls on Wilde for help。 This sets up a convoluted plot that plays out to the very end。 I thoroughly enjoyed this book and now am waiting for the sequel, The Match。 。。。more

Fast, somewhat entertaining read。Not a bad mystery story, but a bit too much over-the-top story telling。 I never did, for example, understand the basis for the boy from the woods back story line。 The author spent a bit of time telling the story of the boy and how he came to be involved with Hester and Matthew; and I don’t think it contributed anything to the central mystery story。 It was an easy read though and it seems as if the good people were able to live happily ever after with a clear cons Fast, somewhat entertaining read。Not a bad mystery story, but a bit too much over-the-top story telling。 I never did, for example, understand the basis for the boy from the woods back story line。 The author spent a bit of time telling the story of the boy and how he came to be involved with Hester and Matthew; and I don’t think it contributed anything to the central mystery story。 It was an easy read though and it seems as if the good people were able to live happily ever after with a clear conscience, while everybody else went on living with their guilty secrets。 。。。more

The Boy From The Woods is a brilliant modern-day thriller with a new set of characters that are fully fleshed out from Wilde the boy from the woods who is now a man who still lives in the woods while being very aware of the world in which he grew up in。 There are several pieces that intertwine to keep the reader turning the page to find out what way this mystery will turn next。 I look forward to reading more Wilde adventures。 I haven't read earlier Harlan Coben books except for Win which I found The Boy From The Woods is a brilliant modern-day thriller with a new set of characters that are fully fleshed out from Wilde the boy from the woods who is now a man who still lives in the woods while being very aware of the world in which he grew up in。 There are several pieces that intertwine to keep the reader turning the page to find out what way this mystery will turn next。 I look forward to reading more Wilde adventures。 I haven't read earlier Harlan Coben books except for Win which I found thoroughly exciting。。。 。。。more

Audiobook。 Young adult category。 Feels like the start of a new series。 Intrigued to see where the origin of Wild’s story。 The mystery itself is pretty good。 Slightly unsatisfying ending。 The scariest part for me is the scene where the politician planned how to use social media to disrupt and distort his story。

Page-turner, can't put down thriller, from the author who originally hooked me with the Myron Bolitar series。 This story was a quick read, w/ enthralling characters and enough twists to swerve off a Mountain Road。 Looking forward to the next installment of the "Wilde" series once he gets back from Costa Rica。 Page-turner, can't put down thriller, from the author who originally hooked me with the Myron Bolitar series。 This story was a quick read, w/ enthralling characters and enough twists to swerve off a Mountain Road。 Looking forward to the next installment of the "Wilde" series once he gets back from Costa Rica。 。。。more

I enjoyed the character of Wilde in this story, finding out his back story, while reading of his trying to solve the mystery of where missing teen Naomi is。 The story intertwines his 'family' with his investigation。 I enjoyed the character of Wilde in this story, finding out his back story, while reading of his trying to solve the mystery of where missing teen Naomi is。 The story intertwines his 'family' with his investigation。 。。。more

This was my first read by Harlan Coben。 I liked it enough to want to continue on with the series。 I felt that THE BOY FROM THE WOODS was a bit on the long side -- I do think 50 pages could have been cut, and doing so only would have strengthened the story。 But so be it: I could focus on the plot and follow along at a time when I wasn't up to reading much, and I'm grateful for that。 I was, however, really annoyed that Rola pointed out that one of the members of her security team "isn't a woman。 Z This was my first read by Harlan Coben。 I liked it enough to want to continue on with the series。 I felt that THE BOY FROM THE WOODS was a bit on the long side -- I do think 50 pages could have been cut, and doing so only would have strengthened the story。 But so be it: I could focus on the plot and follow along at a time when I wasn't up to reading much, and I'm grateful for that。 I was, however, really annoyed that Rola pointed out that one of the members of her security team "isn't a woman。 Zelda is gender non-binary" just for the text to later read, "Rola had the whole team here now--all women with hard eyes。" If Zelda identifies as non-binary and not a woman, then don't later refer to them as a woman! 。。。more

It was fast paced, with a twisty and complicated plot! Wilde is an interesting character。 He is a very private person and loyal to his close friends。 I enjoyed following his investigations and search for the missing child。I have to admit that it took me some time to get invested in the story。 There are quite a lot of things going on at the same time and they did not seem to be connected。 It was pretty confusing。 But the story build up was good and that was what kept me turning the pages。Overall, I think this book is a great start to this series。 I liked the multi-layered mystery, great characters, and I have already started reading the next book! I need to know more about Wilde's backstory! 。。。more
